At risk of losing your home to foreclosure? Talk to a trained housing counselor to see what you can do to keep your home.

If you are facing a foreclosure or at risk of facing a foreclosure, you can find legal representation through:

  • SC Legal Services by calling 888-346-5592 or visiting their website. This program is statewide.
  • Lowcountry Legal Volunteers by calling 843-815-1570 or visiting their website. They serve Beaufort, Hampton or Jasper counties.
  • Charleston Legal Access by calling 843-640-5980 or visiting their website. They serve Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties.
  • SC Center for Heirs Property and Preservation by calling them at 843-745-7055. They serve Allendale, Bamberg, Beaufort, Berkeley, Calhoun, Charleston, Clarendon, Colleton, Darlington, Dillon, Dorchester, Florence, Hampton, Horry, Georgetown, Jasper, Lee, Marion, Marlboro, Orangeburg, Sumter and Williamsburg counties.
  • The SC Bar Referral Service by calling 1-800-868-2284 or visiting their website. This program is statewide.

Application Portal

The SC Homeowner Rescue Program (SC HRP) is a federally funded program that provides financial assistance to eligible homeowners experiencing a pandemic-related financial hardship that began before January 21, 2020, and continued after that date. Assistance included payment of mortgage, utilities, property taxes and homeowner association dues.
