The South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority (SC Housing) is the state agency that finances and supports affordable housing opportunities for South Carolina. During its 50 year history, SC Housing has financed more than 42,000 affordable homes, totaling $2.73 billion. We have also funded thousands of multifamily units across the state.
The Agency provides financing through the sale of tax-exempt bonds and management of federally-funded programs such as Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) and State and National Housing Trust Funds.
Using a combination of these resources and its own earnings, SC Housing provides the following services to the citizens of South Carolina; hence our motto: Financing Housing, Building SC:
SC Housing operations are overseen by an Executive Director and a nine member Board of Commissioners that includes members of the local community with expertise in banking, mortgage servicing, homebuilding and real estate sales. The Board of Directors are appointed by the Governor.
The mission of our agency is to create quality affordable housing opportunities for the citizens of South Carolina. Our vision is that all South Carolinians have the opportunity to live in safe, decent, and affordable housing.
