A groundbreaking ceremony was held in late May for the 198-unit Haven at Congaree Pointe on Atlas Road in Columbia.

The development is a partnership between Bible Way Church of Atlas Road, which owns the 60-acre parcel, and Dominium, a developer building its first property in South Carolina. The tax credit property was also supported by the SC Housing Development team.

The Haven at Congaree Pointe will be restricted to renters aged 55 and over who earn at less than 60% area median income for Richland County. It is scheduled to open in Fall 2023.

The 198 residential units will consist of 96 one-bedroom and 102 two-bedroom in one, four-story, H-shaped building. The development will be constructed with high quality construction materials and finishes, and include an energy efficient and amenity rich design.

To promote an active and healthy lifestyle, the development will include an array of amenities to engage the community, including: fitness, club room, library, grilling spaces, large courtyard, and landscaped walking path. Each apartment home will include amenities such as a full kitchen, walk in closet, energy efficient appliances, low-flow water fixtures, LED lighting, vinyl wood-plank flooring, a programmable thermostat and a unique electronic entry system that will provide access to both residential units and common areas, while offering a secure living environment.
